What a beautiful day!

The title says it all. It's a beautiful day here in Halifax, with the sun shining. Before I go out into the sunshine, to sit with a tall glass and read a book, I thought I'd list a couple of items.

Summer Sunrise

These earrings are beautiful! They're made with boro lampwork glass, and they shimmer in the sunshine, with shades of pink, red, orange, violet and creamy white. To accent these I added pretty, bright sterling silver beadcaps and sparkling Swarovski crystals in padparadscha and crystal AB (alabaster finish).

Blue Ripple Wave

I don't think anything is more pretty than blue and white, it's crisp and lovely. This bracelet has beautiful cornflower blue lampwork beads. The beads are a deep blue base, with light blue and white petals, with tiny dots in the centres of the flowers. Accenting these are sparkling light sapphire Swarovski crystals, shiny Swarovski pearls, and sterling silver spacers and beads. This bracelet is so pretty!

Happy Natal Day!

It's Natal Day here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the day to celebrate our fair city. It's a beautiful day here, the sun is shining and it's HOT! I know I should be outside enjoying the sunshine, but instead I'm inside posted a few more goodies on Etsy. I have 3 new items today, as seen below. Cotton Candy

This necklace is sooooo pretty, with lovely pink freshwater pearls, sterling silver, and a fabulous lampwork glass bead pendant.

Clear Skies

I love chandelier earrings! These earrings are so light and pretty. The beads are aqua candy jade gemstones and aquamarine Swarovski crystals. I've hung these from pretty sterling silver chandelier forms.

Sparkling Sunshine

This bracelet gloriously sparkles in the sunlight! It's made with fabulous boro glass beads. The colours in them are amazing, with swirls of pink, lavender, orange and gold. When the sun hits them, the colours come alive. Surrounding the boro beads are pretty rose Swarovski round beads and some smaller crystal bicones, as well orange spice Czech glass flowers and pretty sterling silver beadcaps. The bracelet is finished off with a pretty sterling silver scroll toggle.

So, I think that's all for today. Maybe I'll go get creative and make something new!

Yay it's a long weekend!

As the title says, it's a long weekend...yay! And I only work 3 days this coming week, then have another long weekend...yay!

Well, I haven't made any jewelry this weekend, yet, but I listed a couple of things on Etsy that I made a while ago. The pictures below are links, so please click on the pictures if you're interested in the item.

Garden Delights

Firstly I added a pretty bracelet made with polymer clay beads, Czech glass pearls, vintage lucite, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. It's a full, charm style bracelet, with shades of pink, purple, lavender and green. I love it, and almost didn't want to list it as I'd like to keep it for myself! Ah well!

Purple Velvet

I also listed a beautiful pair of earrings. Very classy earrings made with gorgeous lampwork glass beads, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. The lampwork beads are a deep purple, with swirls of lavender, green, light cream and blue. I accented these with sterling silver beadcaps, Swarovski crystal tanzanite bicones and sparkling Swarovski crystal AB (alabaster finish) rondelle. I love these earrings, they're soooo pretty!

I hope to put some more goodies up on Etsy tomorrow. And if I'm lucky I may even get a couple things made! Yay for long weekends! :)

Welcome to Butterfly Gems Blog!

Hi, my name is Allison and I live on the east coast of Canada, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I've always loved doing crafts, but about 2 years ago a friend got me interested in making jewelry - and I've been hooked ever since! I love creating pretty pieces - earrings, bracelets and necklaces - jewelry that looks lovely, and makes us look and feel lovely too! I use high quality materials for all of my designs - I work with sterling silver, Swarovski crystals, semi-precious gemstones, lampwork glass and freshwater pearls, all in an array of beautiful, shimmering colours.
